| How to install an Amplifier:1.)
| |
| | the next step!11.) Permanately Mount your

| Disconnect the battery terminals: Just be
| |

|

| |
| | through the previous nine steps, you have
|
| from the battery to the location of the
| |

| |
| | If not, I BEG OF YOU to think about this
|
| run it through any sort of sheet metal,
| |
| | first. Figure out where you want your

| be sure to protect the power cable with a
| |
| | amp, how you'll get power to it, and what
|
| rubber grommet, or some other protective
| |
| | (if any) components will be installed
|
| device.Be sure you have plenty of slack
| |
| | near it. Also, don't be a fool! Be sure
|
| at both ends of the cable. This will make
| |
| | you've budgeted so you can actually
|
| your life easier, trust me!Be sure you
| |
| | afford everything you need for your amp
|
| run the power cable away from any RCA

| cables. I usually run the power cable
| |
| | small amount of time to think about this
|
| down the side of the vehicle that the
| |
| | stuff will pay off for a smooth install,
|
| battery is installed on, and run the RCA
| |
| | and great sound. If you don't plan, you
|
| cables down the center of the
| |
| | will screw it up.When you mount your amp,
|
| vehicle.Once the cable has been run and
| |
| | you'll want to be sure you are protecting
|
| secured, leave it alone for the time
| |
| | it from any sort of physical damage and
|
| being. Don't hook it up, cut it or do
| |
| | heat. Car amps are tough, but you need to
|
| anything else with it!Be sure the power
| |
| | be sure that you are installing it in a
|
| cable is secured with wire ties or some
| |
| | way that protects your amp from these
|
| other means, BUT! Not until you have run
| |
| | hazards.Soooooo, to protect your amp from
|
| the cable, and determined that the cable
| |
| | physical damage (because they are usually
|
| is going to work out where it is
| |
| | installed in places where they are prone
|
| located.3.) Find a suitable ground point
| |
| | to damage such as in the trunk or under
|
| close to the amplifierThis point should

| | the seats), it is best to build some sort
|
| attach to the vehicle's chassis, and be a
| |
| | of enclosure for it. This enclosure
|
| solid connection.Run your ground cable
| |
| | should be big enough to contain the amp
|
| from the amp (or distro block).Just like
| |
| | (and possibly some fans), as well as the
|
| with the power cable, this wire should be
| |
| | appropriate wiring. You will also want to
|
| secured and protected. It should not be
| |
| | be able to easily access the controls. If
|
| installed in a location that will
| |
| | you really like to tweak your system, you
|
| distress it.Use a piece of sandpaper to
| |
| | might want to make your amp rack easily

|
| ground point. Use it to also sand away
| |
| | Be creative on how to protect it. The
|
| any rust or residue on your ground point.
| |
| | truth is, you can get really fancy here,
|
| You want a good solid connection, so
| |
| | or just do something quick. Both will
|
| you'll want to see nice shiny
| |
| | work.Another thing to keep in mind when
|
| metal.Prepare an appropriately sized ring
| |
| | building an enclosure for an amp or
|
| terminalIf your ground cable is going to
| |
| | mounting the amp in a place that is hot
|
| be attached with a ring terminal (the
| |
| | or has poor airflow is that the amp will
|
| most recommended means), attach it now.
| |
| | get HOT. Heat damages electronics, so you
|
| Remember! Do a good job here. We're
| |
| | should figure out a way to keep your amp
|
| looking for a strong, solid electrical
| |
| | cool and happy. Use fans, or even
|
| connection. If you can use solder, I
| |
| | redirect the air conditioner!One last
|
| would recommend it!Use a washer when
| |
| | thing about amps: I have found that if
|
| attaching your ring terminal to your
| |
| | your amp is mounted to metal, it is
|
| vehicle's chassis.Finally, cover the
| |
| | sometimes prone to noise. I recommend
|
| ground point with something
| |
| | mounting your amp to a piece of wood
|
| non-conductive. Also, Find some spray
| |
| | before installing it. This will prevent
|
| paint or finish that will protect your
| |
| | any sort or weird ground loop effects
|
| ground point from rust.4.) Be sure to run
| |
| | that introduce noise to your music.12.)
|
| RCA cables and the remote turn on!Pull
| |
| | Tweak!Now that you've installed your
|
| your head unit out of its mounting
| |
| | amp(s), you're pretty excited to get
|
| location.If it's not already hooked up,
| |
| | rollin. Step 1: Be sure all of the amp's
|
| hook up your remote turn-on wire to the
| |
| | gains are down, the bass boost is off,
|
| head unit's wiring harness.Determine
| |
| | and the crossovers are set to the correct
|
| which RCA cables will go to each channel
| |
| | frequency band.Get one of your favorite
|
| on your amp(s). I find it useful to have
| |
| | CDs, preferably one that is clean
|
| a 4-channel cable and an additional
| |
| | sounding. I have found classical and jazz
|
| 2-channel cable for your subwoofers. This
| |
| | to work great, but alternative and pop
|
| makes it easier to run all of the wires
| |
| | work as well. Try to avoid really loud or
|
| at once.Run your RCAs and remote turn-on.
| |
| | bass heavy music. If you must, try to use
|
| Keep the RCA cables away from any sort of
| |
| | a more melodic CD: Not one that's just
|
| power cable, especially the power cable
| |
| | all bass, or noise, you know? The
|
| for your amp(s). It's OK to run the
| |
| | important thing is that the CD is
|
| remote turn-on wire with the RCAs.Make
| |
| | representative of what you normally
|
| sure all cables are secured and not
| |
| | listen to, because it's YOUR system, and
|
| installed in a way that will distress
| |
| | it's YOUR music. Darn tootin!Step
|
| them. Be sure they aren't pinched,
| |
| | 2: Power on!Step 3: Turn your head units
|
| scraped or kinked during any sort of
| |
| | controls to neutral. EQs off, loudness
|
| driving activity. In any places where
| |
| | off, fade and balance centered.Step 4:
|
| they'll need protection, be sure to cover
| |
| | Turn the volume up until you hear
|
| them with a tough material.5.) Run all of
| |
| | distortion (you know it when you hear it,
|
| your speaker wires. Now it's time to run
| |
| | and go on to step 5), or the volume
|
| more wires! Run speaker wires from your
| |
| | control is all the way up. (go to step
|
| speakers to your amp's installation
| |
| | 6)Step 5: If you hear distortion, back
|
| location.Just like with all of the
| |
| | the volume up until no more distortion is
|
| different wires above, be sure they are
| |
| | heard. At this point, you know how loud
|
| secured and protected.6.) Hook up all of
| |
| | your system is gonna go before it starts
|
| the wires at the amplifier!Hook up the
| |
| | distorting, sounding horrible, and
|
| RCAs, speaker cables, remote turn on,
| |
| | smoking speakers. (Move on to step 7, and
|
| power then ground.7.) Hook up a fuse
| |
| | lower your volume!)Step 6: If your head
|
| holder near the battery.Be sure you have
| |
| | unit goes all the way up, and doesn't
|
| this piece of equipment (and a fuse)
| |
| | distort, you have a good unit that your
|
| before you even attempt to hook your amp
| |
| | amp can handle. Go to your amp, and while
|
| up to your vehicle's electrical system.
| |
| | the music is playing, slowly turn up the
|
| Seriously! The fuse holder MUST be within
| |
| | gains. Once you hear distortion, back off
|
| 18" of the battery.Be sure the fuse
| |
| | a little. Turn your head unit's volume
|
| holder is connected solidly to the power
| |
| | down!Step 7: Now go to your head unit.
|
| wire.Be sure you have the right sized
| |
| | Set all of the eq, loudness, crossover
|
| fuse!Be sure the fuse holder is mounted
| |
| | controls, and dsp that you want. Repeat
|
| in a safe place, and the power wires are
| |
| | steps 4-6 with all of these controls set
|
| all secured away from any moving
| |
| | to how you want them.Step 8: Set all of
|
| parts.8.) Hook up any special battery
| |
| | your amp's bass boost or other controls
|
| terminalsIf you have any fancy-schmancy
| |
| | to how you want them. Repeat steps 4-6
|
| battery terminals, now is the time to be
| |
| | again.Step 9: Once everything sounds
|
| sure they're connected properly. Be sure
| |
| | good, you're ready to put a cover on your
|
| they are secure and protected. Hook up
| |
| | amp enclosure, and be sure your fans are
|
| any other of your vehicle's cables to the
| |
| | hooked up properly. Put it away and
|
| battery. If you can get covers for your
| |
| | forget it!Step 10: You're in business!
|
| new battery terminals, I would recommend
| |
| | Have fun, and don't wake up your
|
| them.9.) Reconnect the battery.Put your
| |
| | neighbors!Alan Bayer is an entrepreneur
|
| shiny new terminals on those battery
| |
| | and car audio enthusiast. He runs an eBay
|
| posts!10.) Test!Before turning your
| |
| | store selling car stereo install
|
| system on, turn the amplifier gains all
| |
| | supplies: also has a GREAT website with
|
| the way down. Turn on your system and
| |
| | car audio articles (such as the one from
|
| listen. Does everything work? How much
| |
| | above). Also on the website, learn about
|
| noise do you hear? Is there audible
| |
| | car audio equipment, how to find the best
|
| distortion (If so, don't listen for
| |
| | equipment, how to install it, and save
|
| long!) If everything's square, move on to
| |
| | big bucks in the process!
